The last edition of the National Games took place in Goa in 2023, where Maharashtra emerged at the top with 228 medals, including 80 gold, 69 silver and 79 bronze.
National Games 2025 Dehradun
The upcoming event will be a multi-sport extravaganza and it will host over 10,000 athletes, coaches and officials from different states and Union Territories across the country. It will also feature various institutions across the country. The National Games 2025 will feature a total of 32 sports as well as four demonstration events, including Mallakhamb, Kalarippayattu, Rafting and Yogasana.

All the sporting events at the National Games 2025 will officially conclude on February 13, following which the closing ceremony will take place a day later. The first edition of the National Games took place in Lahore in an undivided India, back in 1924. Back then, the competition went by the name the Indian Olympic Games, which continued up until 1938.
National Games 2025 events, schedule, and venues
The live telecast of the opening ceremony will begin at 5:00 PM IST on January 28, 2025 and Indian audiences can tune in to DD Sports on their television or watch the live stream on the Prasar Bharati Sports YouTube channel with daily live streaming and telecast of the games available on these platforms.
The National Games 2025 will begin with an opening ceremony at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on January 28 and will run till February 14 in Uttarakhand.
Basketball will meanwhile start on Tuesday at the impressive hall in the Maharana Pratap Sports College complex, the Games’ main venue.
