S. Nambi Narayanan was involved in developing the Vikas engine that might be used for the first PSLV that India launched. Being a senior official at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Narayanan was the in-charge of the cryogenics division. Later in year 1994, he was falsely charged with espionage and unluckily got arrested after disgraced and deranged RB Sreekumar ran a malicious campaign against him at the behest of his political masters.

The charges against him were dismissed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in April 1996, and the Supreme Court of India declared him not guilty in year 1998.
Narayanan’s father was a businessman but he passed away when he was quite young so he worked hard. He completed his education from Nagercoil and later on attended the DVD Higher Secondary School. He spent his school days with YS Rajan who was also a scientist at ISRO.
The 80 year old has a son named Sankara Kumar, a businessman and daughter Geetha Arunan who is a teacher while his wife is Meena Nambi.
S. Nambi Narayanan introduced liquid fuel rocket technology in India in the early 1970s, when A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s team was working on the solid motors. He foresaw the need for liquid-fuelled engines for ISRO’s future civilian space programs and received encouragement from the then ISRO chairman Satish Dhawan, and his successor Mr. U. R. Rao.
Narayanan developed liquid propellant motors, one of the first building a successful 600 kilograms (1,300 lb) thrust engine in the mid-1970s and thereafter moving on to bigger engines.
This engine took Chandrayaan-1 to the moon in year 2008. On the 7th of November in year 2013, Narayanan pushed for justice in his case, to expose those behind the conspiracy.
Nambi Naryanan also penned down his autobiography in Malayalam with the title “Ormakalude Bhramanapadham.”
