Saeed Ajmal offered his take on the Dean Elgar DRS controversy with him claiming even Sachin Tendulkar was wrongfully not given out during the world cup
The world of cricket has been riddled with the controversy regarding the DRS review taken by South African captain Dean Elgar during day 3 of the third South Africa vs India test match. Caught plumb infront of the wickets by Ravichandran Ashwin, Elgar decided to appeal the decision, one which miraculously came to his rescue.
Saeed Ajmal Claims DRS Was Manipulated To Give Sachin Tendulkar Not Out
Hawkeye showed that the ball had bounced all of a sudden, one which defied the trajectory of the delivery to take it above the leg stump, henceforth according Elgar a reprieve as his dismissal was overturned. It was a gaffe which left the Indian team seething with the side lashing out at SuperSport for some inexplicable reason despite the broadcaster having no role in what had happened.
Saeed Ajmal has now opined on what unraveled as well. While the spinner agreed that the ball couldn’t have bounced as it did, he used the incident to claim that Sachin Tendulkar was wrongly given not out as well when Pakistan had taken on India in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup.

“I have seen Dean Elgar’s review many times. Seeing him, no one can say that the ball is going over the stump. It is clear that the ball is hitting his knees and he is out. But why is Team India raising questions?
“In the 2011 World Cup, when Sachin Tendulkar’s decision on my ball was reversed, then India had said that DRS is a reliable and accurate technique. Then why are they now saying that DRS technology is not reliable and correct. Simply because the verdict went against you.
“There was no point in not giving Sachin Tendulkar out even on my ball in the 2011 World Cup. In 2011, my ball was not missing the stump in the same way as Ashwin was not doing against Elgar in Cape Town,” Ajmal said.
