The Islanders were paired with Al Hilal in Group D of the AFC Champions League. Mumbai City’s next matchup is with Al Hilal, who finished third in the previous SPL season. One of their idols, Neymar Jr., a former star of Barcelona and PSG who recently joined Al Hilal, will also be available for the players to play against.

Meanwhile, the venue for the fixture was changed. The Islanders’ second home game in the 2023–24 AFC Champions League will take place at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 6th, against Al Hilal SFC. Earlier, it was planned to be played on Pune’s Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex stadium on the same date.

One reason for this change has been attributed to the extraordinarily high demand for tickets. The DY Patil Stadium can accommodate 55,000 people, which is a lot more than the 12,000 seats that the Balewadi Sports Complex can accommodate. However, the change in the plan had some kuxed reactions from the fans.
