Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to ‘Mr Natwarlal’, the ‘Yaarana’ director Rakesh Kumar by saying, ‘I shall hesitate to go to his funeral. As per to media reports, the filmmaker died after a long battle suffering from cancer on Thursday.

Veteran director, Mr. Rakesh Kumar was well known for his movies “Khoon Pasina”, “Mr. Natwarlal”, “Yaarana” and “Do Aur Do Paanch.” Rakesh’s all these films were with te superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
Rakesh worked on Prakash Mehra’s 1973 blockbuster named “Zanjeer” as an assistant director before foraying into direction with his movie named “Khoon Pasina” in 1977. His film credits also included films such as the “Commander”, “Kaun Jeeta Kaun Haara” and “Suryavanshi”.

Amitabh Bachchan shared the sad news of Kumar’s death in a post on his social media on Saturday night. Rakesh’s prayer meet took place on 13th November 2022 in Andheri, Mumbai. Rakesh died due to cancer aged 81.
“Morose is the day .. For another colleague who has left us and me in a particular.. Rakesh Sharma, first AD to Prakash Mehra on ‘ZANJEER’ .. then the independent director for other PM (prakash mehra, as we often joked with him, as the PM of the country ) films .. and singularly – ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Khoon Pasina’, ‘Mr Natwarlal’, ‘Yaarana’, et al .. And such great camaraderie on sets, socially, during events and Holi,” the 80-year-old actor stated.
“Bachchan stated, “Rakesh has left an imprint on everyone that is quite “hard to remove”. His sense of direction, writing, screenplay and execution along with the fun times on the location during Nattu and Yaarana will be remembered”
“And the ease with which Rakesh would grant everyone the liberty of skipping shoots on an odd day to give us some time to relax and fool around.”
