Carnet explained why he wears a bow tie and how his tattoos force him to deal with rejections

When the Spaniard places in the top three, he is particularly well-known for donning a bowtie on the podium. Canet said in an interview with a Spanish site that the bowtie is a message to those who criticise him because of his tattoos.

“The bow tie is a response to individuals who have called him out for having tattoos without first getting to know him, both within and outside the paddock.”

“Having tattoos makes you neither a better nor a worse person.” Although I am the same child I was when I was 16 years old and did not wear them, some people thought I was a murderer because I had tattoos on my body. The fact that I wake up early to train at home in Andorra and have tattoos does not have to make me a better or worse person; it is the same as wearing a bow tie.

“We have the same gas whether we have them or not, and I am the same person and an excellent athlete.” Canet discussed how several teams decided not to sign him because of his reputation. He said that some teams rejected him because of his tattoos and other bullshit during negotiations with many teams of various categories. And because of my appearance, I have also been crossed out by objects outside the paddock.
