Rafael Nadal won the 2022 Australian Open the hard way, coming back from a two-set deficit to defeat Daniil Medvedev in an Australian Open final that lasted nearly five and half hours. Nadal moved one step ahead of Federer and world number one Novak Djokovic in the all-time Grand Slam titles race after winning the Australian Open in 2022.

Big Three in Men’s Tennis: Most Grand Slam Title Winner In Tennis

Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic led men’s tennis to golden era and dominated all competitions for over a decade. Hence, they got the nick name of “Big Three”. Till Australian Open 2022, all of them were locked at 20 grand slams but Nadal took the first step and achieved his 21st grand slam. We take a look at their achievements and rankings over the years.

Rafael Nadal

Nadal has won a record 13 French open grand slams. Together with Federer and Djokovic he completes the big three of Tennis. Nadal is the only left-handed player out of three and has maintained his dominance over the clay court over the years. Nadal has stayed at ATP Rank number 1 for 209 weeks and is currently ranked fifth in the world.

Roger Federer

One of the big three and grass court expert, Federer was the first man to win 20 grand slams in Men’s singles. He has won a record of 8 titles at Wimbledon. Federer has stayed at ATP rank 1 for total of 310 weeks including consecutive 237 weeks. Federer has struggled with injuries since last few years and as a result, he is currently ranked 17th in the world.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic has won a record of 9 Australian open titles. He was the favourite at 2022 Australian Open but his dispute with Australian government over vaccination resulted in his suspension from the tournament. Djokovic is currently ranked first in the world and has held the top spot for a record total of 358 weeks.
