Money in the Bank Updates And Matches After WWE Smackdown On 2nd July, 2021

As it was previously announced last week, long-time rivals Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn showcased yet another wonderful match in a Last Man Standing match for a spot in the Money in the Bank men’s ladder match. The match climaxed as Owens drove Zayn through two tables before putting him away with an apron powerbomb for the win. KO summoned all the pent-up rage Zayn had been causing for the last few months and brought it into the match. Sami Zayn too gave one of his classic performances along with his best friend-turned-rival.

In another big development on Smackdown, Sonya Deville brought back Zelina Vega to WWE as the next blue brand superstar to enter the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Former companion of Andrade, Vega returned with a heel promo on the mic about winning the MITB briefcase when Liv Morgan interrupted her, upset for not getting a spot in the ladder match. Deville granted Morgan a match against Vega, to prove her potential again, which Morgan won. But for now, only Zelina Vega will make her way into the ladder match.

Furthermore, Bianca Belair challenged Bayley for an ‘I Quit’ match at the upcoming pay-per-view as Bayley was cutting a promo regarding her loss last week. She accepted the challenge after saying that Belair has no chance of winning the match. Thus, Bianca Belair and Bayley will go head-to-head at Money in the Bank in an ‘I Quit’ match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
