Moises Caicedo will sign a long-term contract with Chelsea after infamously passing on Liverpool. The Blues appear to finally signed the 21-year-old, who has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time.

The SportsGrail understands that despite Liverpool and Brighton reaching a £110 million deal, Chelsea is still convinced that they can still get Caicedo. Although the Merseyside club has made arrangements for his arrival at the AXA Training Centre, it is thought that the Ecuadorian international has not yet reached a personal agreement with the Reds.
Caicedo declared his intention to sign with the West Londoners earlier this summer, calling the organisation a “very big, historic, beautiful team.” The personal terms that were agreed to in May have been made public, even if Chelsea is still making all efforts to provide the Ecuadorian his ideal transfer.
Contract and salary details
Caicedo will sign a deal keeping him at Stamford Bridge through June 2031, claims Fabrizio Romano. According to the article, his contract includes an option for an additional year. When Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez arrived in January, they signed contracts that were the longest in Premier League history at eight and a half years.
Brighton already agreed to Liverpool’s $110 million offer. The personal terms with the Player had not yet been agreed upon, though. Chelsea later persevered as well, having previously reached a personal agreement with a higher salary than Liverpool with Caicedo in May. Chelsea outbid Liverpool for a sum of £115 million, which Brighton is prepared to accept.
While his salary at Chelsea isn’t known, Moises Caicedo signed a 5 year / £910,000 contract with the Brighton & Hove Albion including an annual average salary of £182,000. In 2023 Caicedo will earn a base salary of £780,000.
Why does Chelsea offer longer contracts?
In order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) requirements, Chelsea has amortised the transfer fee payments it will make for the pair over the course of each contract. A shorter contract would have resulted in a far higher yearly payment calculation, making it much more difficult for the Blues to adhere to FFP standards.
While it is unknown how Chelsea will organise their prospective payments to Brighton for Caicedo, Todd Boehly is obviously motivated to keep hold of the most promising young athletes in the world. According to FIFA, player contracts should be no more than five years, barring any restrictions imposed by the local legal system. There are no limitations or restrictions in the United Kingdom.
Chelsea is also eyeing Lavia and Kasper Schmeichel
Chelsea is inching closer to a £55 million deal for Southampton’s Roméo Lavia, who is also a target for Liverpool. The move for Lavia is distinct from the Caicedo agreement, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.
