Before under-pressure opener batsman, David Warner got the Australians off to a great start and will continue on 32* for the second day, Cameron Green shone with a five-wicket haul. Starc’s injury might have dulled the mood in the Australian team’s locker rooms, but scans have revealed no significant injuries, and the seasoned seamer will be fit to bowl in the second innings.
Statement from the team
Despite the horrific nature of the injury, team physicians determined that Starc did not dislocate his shoulder after suffering it while fielding the ball close to the boundary. According to The Daily Telegraph, Starc experienced “tendon damage” and will probably miss the series’ penultimate Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
After the game, off-spinner Nathan Lyon told cricket.com.au that Starc’s injury might cause issues in the second innings. Lyon added, “Not ideal, I don’t think…currently he’s leaving for a scan.” We’re hoping that his scan will produce the greatest results possible.”
In the past six months, Starc has sustained the same injury twice.
After slicing the top of his finger in a bizarre accident in Sri Lanka earlier in 2022, Starc has now sustained the same injury twice in the past six months.
Due to the fact that Starc’s injury was inflicted on the field and not prior to the game, he should be able to bowl while covering his bowling hand with tape under ICC regulations. Australia will pick up play at 2:00 in an effort to take a 2-0 lead in the three-game series.
