The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office told the Clarion Ledger that when they got to the Blackjack Missionary Baptist Church, which is 4 miles from Mississippi State’s campus, they found Westmoreland’s body.
Despite the fact that there is still time for an inquiry, no wrongdoing is thought to have occurred. The institution is working with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office and the Oktibbeha County Coroner’s Office to determine what happened to Westmoreland.

Sam Westmoreland was an American student and a budding footballer. He has been in the news because he died mysteriously recently.
According to a biography on his athletics website, his birthdate was October 21, 2003. If he hadn’t died, he would have turned 19 this year. Unfortunately, he died at the age of 18.
Westmoreland attended Tupelo High School and played football there. Westmoreland was a captain and a leader his senior year, the high school football coach claimed in a statement shared on October 19 on Twitter by the Tupelo School District.
According to a university statement, Sam Westmoreland was a freshman from Tupelo, Mississippi, and was majoring in industrial technology.
After a great career at Tupelo High, where he was chosen for the Northeast Mississippi Football Coaches Association All-Star Game the previous year, Westmoreland joined the Bulldogs. He was selected for the Region 2-6A second team following his senior year in 2021–2022.

On the evening of October 19, Michael Hunt, the coroner for Oktibbeha County, informed The Associated Press that there isn’t considered to have been any foul play, but he made no more comments.
