Who Was Haryanvi Singer Sangeeta?
Sangeeta Chowdhary was a famous Haryanvi singer. She is also known by the name Divya Indori. At the time of her death, she was 28 years old.
She belongs to the Dalit community and lives in Delhi’s Jaffarpur Kalan area.
Her family consisted of four siblings and her parents, and she was the sole earner.
She had her own YouTube channel on which she posted 75 videos.
How Did She Die?
Two men have been detained by Delhi Police for reportedly killing a Haryanvi folk singer in Mehram and concealing her body beside a highway in Rohtak. The accused men, Ravi and Anil, both from Haryana’s Meham, plotted a plot to assassinate her, according to Delhi Police.
On the pretence of filming a music video, the suspects picked up the singer from Delhi and drugged and killed her. According to the authorities, the accused later buried her corpse.
However, her family alleged that she was raped and her brother also involved the Bhim Army in all this alleging the negligence from the Police side.
The Bhim Army and the relatives of the victim staged a demonstration outside Delhi’s Jafarpur Police Station on Monday night, saying that the police did not move quickly enough in the matter. To show protest, the deceased’s body was kept outside the police station.
While talking with the media, her sister said,
We want that the culprits behind this should be given strict punishment, they should be hanged. By looking at the body, it seems she was raped. There is a wound on the head, and the body was found without clothes. They tried to remove all evidence of the crime, they buried her in Meham.”
According to the DCP, she had also filed a rape case against Ravi, who works at the same firm as her in Haryana.
