Anticipation is reaching a fever pitch as we await the coronation of the new Miss Universe. Participants from 90 countries will compete for the esteemed title, aiming to succeed R’Bonney Gabriel from the United States.

Selection Process

The selection process for the next Miss Universe will involve various events, including personal statements, in-depth interviews, and showcases in evening gowns and swimwear.

The prestigious event will be hosted by TV presenters Jeannie Mai Jenkins and Maria Menounos, along with former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo. Elevating the glamour, the evening will feature a live musical performance by the legendary 12-time Grammy winner, John Legend.

As the world holds its breath, the global beauty queen will be crowned in a night filled with excitement, glamour, and talent.

Event Location

This year, El Salvador has been chosen as the host country for Miss Universe, with the event taking place in San Salvador, the capital, at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena, accommodating 13,000 people.

Where to Watch

The national costume competition is scheduled for November 16 at 9:00 p.m. EST, following the preliminary competition on November 15 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Notably, the event will be livestreamed on Live Bash, and Telemundo will air it in Spanish in the US.

Streaming access will also be available on The Roku Channel. Indian viewers can catch the final competition on Miss Universe’s YouTube channel and X account, starting at 6:30 am on November 19, Indian Standard Time.

Who’s Representing India

Representing India at the 72nd Miss Universe contest is Shweta Sharda, the 2023 Miss Diva Universe winner. A 22-year-old model and dancer from Chandigarh, Shweta has made her mark in popular TV reality shows such as Dance Deewane, Dance Plus, and Dance India Dance.

She completed her undergraduate studies at the Indira Gandhi National Open University and has been signed as a choreographer by Jhalak Dikhlaja. This year’s Miss Universe pageant is noteworthy for its groundbreaking changes, underscoring a commitment to progress and inclusivity.

Maria Camila Avella Montañez from Colombia and Michelle Cohn from Guatemala are set to make history as the first mothers and married women to compete. Additionally, Rikkie Valerie Kollé from the Netherlands and Marina Machete from Portugal will follow in the footsteps of Angela Ponce, becoming the second and third trans women to participate.

Pakistan will also make history with its first-ever participation, with Erica Robin representing the country.
