Minecraft Creates History, Crosses 1 Trillion Views On YouTube
Minecraft continues to grow in scope and community over time, with over 141 million monthly active users recorded in August 2021, according to Mojang Studios during Minecraft Live 2021.
Minecraft was also revealed to be the most-watched topic on YouTube in 2020, with over 201 billion total views, so it’s no surprise that the game has already reached one trillion total views at the end of 2021.
According to a Windows Central study, the YouTube community comprises over 35,000 established creators from 150 nations and territories, all of whom have contributed to Minecraft’s status as the most-watched video game topic on YouTube for years.
To arrive at its conclusions, YouTube compiled 12 years’ worth of daily upload and watch data from the tens of thousands of artists and millions of viewers who engaged with Minecraft videos.
YouTube made this music video to commemorate the occasion, which includes references to various major moments and creators from the Minecraft YouTube community.

According to YouTube, if each view lasted only a second, there would be almost 30,000 years of viewing time.
“As our statistics reveals, it took this community about eight years to acquire 500 billion views, but just two or three more years to double that and reach one trillion,” YouTube adds.
“We can only speculate on what future heights they will reach, but as with this milestone, it will be entertaining to witness.”
It also mentions that the rate at which views are collecting is fast increasing, implying that reaching the 2 trillion mark may not take as long as previously thought.
Over 200 million copies of the original Minecraft have been sold. While Minecraft Earth, a location-based spin-off game, stopped in June owing to COVID-related concerns, Minecraft Dungeons, a 2020 release, achieved 10 million players across all supported platforms in February.
