The next Winter Olympics are set to kick off in early February of 2026 and it will feature 116 medal events and 16 sports.

While the competition features not even half of the 329 medal events held in Paris this summer, it will feature two full weeks of sporting action.

2026 Winter Olympics host venues

The host cities for the 2026 Winter Olympics are Milan and Cortina dโ€™Ampezzo, with the opening Ceremony set for February 6, 2026. The 2026 Olympics marks the first time that multiple cities have officially hosted the Games. The opening ceremony will take place at the San Siro Stadium in Milan. Meanwhile, the closing ceremony for the upcoming event will take place at the Verona Arena in Verona. It is the first time since the Sarajevo 1984 Olympics, that the opening and closing ceremonies will take place at different venues.

The Olympics logo is titled โ€œFuturaโ€ and it was selected via an open vote for the first time. The logo incorporates the number โ€œ26โ€, stylized with a single white line. The line reflects โ€œMilano Cortina 2026โ€™s ambition to place sustainability and legacy at its core.โ€

Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics official mascots

The official mascots for the upcoming 2026 Olympics, are the stoats siblings Tina and Milo, named after the two host cities. Tina will serve as the official mascot of the 2026 Winter Olympics, while Milo will serve as the mascot for the 2026 Winter Paralympics.

Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics new events

The upcoming event will host about 116 Medal Events. Aside from traditional sports like alpine skiing, figure skating, and hockey, the 2026 Games will feature several new events. Skeleton will feature as a mixed-team event for the first time, alongside ski mountaineering, aka skimo. Skimo features participants traversing uphill over rugged terrains with specialized equipment and then skiing downhill. Some other new events include the men’s and women’s doubles luge, men’s and women’s dual moguls, and the women’s large-hill individual ski jumping.

Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics schedule

The 2026 Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 6-22, 2026. As of now, the organizers have not set a full schedule, but fans can expect some few events to unfold before the opening ceremony on February 6. Meanwhile, the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games will take place a couple of weeks after the closing ceremony between March 6-16.

The full schedule is yet to be revealed.
