Eddie Howe claims that Miguel Almiron’s nightmarish injury sustained during training will keep him out for six weeks. The Newcastle player was not part at the City Ground last night due to a thigh issue and has been taken out of Paraguay’s squad for their friendly against Chile. Almiron will nonetheless travel to Dubai for a training session in warm conditions the following week. “Miggy strained a thigh muscle in training,” Howe added. Sadly, it’s not a very good one. One that will take six weeks to recover.
Despite being left off the Switzerland team for the following week, Howe chose to start Fabian Schar in the team that defeated Forest. Fabian has been carrying a variety of items over the past few weeks, according to Howe. He has a foot issue and suffered a concussion, so I believe this is merely an opportunity for him to rest up before continuing.
