Initially, the headquarters of the FIH was in Brussels, Belgium, but since 2005, the headquarters of the FIH is in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The current president of the FIH is Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra, whereas the CEO is Thierry Weil. At present, 137 nations are affiliated with the International Hockey Federation.

Since 1985, the junior hockey cup has been consistently been held once in four years. The main rule of the Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup is that all the players should be younger than 21 years of age as of December 31 in the year prior to the competition being held. Five nations have ruled the world cup so far with Germany being the country with the most wins in history. Germany has won the competition six times.

The FIH also organizes the Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. This world cup began in 1989 and has the same rules as the men’s world cup.
