The Asian Hockey Federation’s quadrennial international men’s field hockey competition, the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup, is being iheld for the eleventh time in 2022. The event is taking place at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia, from May 23 to June 1, 2022, as announced on March 15, 2022.

In the first quarter of the India vs Pakistan match at 2022 Asia Cup Hockey, Karti Selvam scored his first goal for India, putting his team ahead, but Abdul Rana scored a thrilling equalizer with little over a minute left to play, earning Pakistan a draw. Despite having more possession, neither team had more shots on goal or circle penetrations.
Goalkeeper Akmal Hussain of Pakistan was named player of the match. India enjoyed more possession, but they missed several opportunities to increase their lead, including one in the final 10 seconds of the game. On Tuesday, they will meet the reigning Asian Games winners, Japan.
Meanwhile, Japan thrashed opponents Indonesia with a score of 9-0 and hence, India needs to be at their best in order to chip points off of Japan.
