The tournament began on May 23 and runs until June 1, 2022, at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta, Indonesia. India earned four points from their first two matches of Super 4 Stage in Asia Cup hockey and is in good shape to qualify for the title final. However, Malaysia’s 5-0 thumping win combined with India’s 4-4 draw against South Korea, knocked reigning champions India out from the Asia Cup Hockey.

Despite a 4-4 tie against South Korea in the final Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2022 in Indonesia on Tuesday, India had a difficult outcome. As a consequence of their better goal difference, Korea advanced to the finals and will face Malaysia in the summit battle. India, on the other side, will compete for third place against Japan.
Throughout the game, both teams showed tremendous grit. Nilam Sanjeep scored a penalty corner in the eighth minute to help India break the tie in the first quarter. Korea scored two goals in response before Maninder Singh equalised in the 20th minute. Sheshe Gowda gave India the lead in the next minute, but Korea equalised in the 27th minute thanks to an exquisite effort by Kim Junghoo.
India took the lead again in the third quarter after Mareeswaran Shakthivel scored the team’s fourth goal. However, Korea equalised right before the conclusion of the third quarter thanks to a superb pass and an equally good finish by Jung Manjae. After no goals were scored in the final quarter, India went all-out offensive, while Korea crammed their half with practically all of their players.
