Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2 2022 Charity Cup Prize Money
The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, also known as the Champions Chess Tour 2022, is a nine-month series of nine online chess tournaments featuring some of the world’s best players competing for a prize pool of US$1.6 million. The tour will begin on February 19, 2022, and end on November 20, 2022.
The second leg of the $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour will be dedicated to raising funds for Ukrainian war victims. Starting on March 19, the Charity Cup will be the second leg of the world’s most renowned elite online chess tournament.
Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2 2022 Format, Schedule, Date, Time
At the round-robin phases of The Charity Cup, the round-robin will employ a football-style 3 point for a win, 1 point for a tie scoring system, and participants will earn cash bonuses for each rapid game played. The players will earn $750 for a victory and $250 for a draw.
The event will start from March 19 and will run till March 26, with action starting at 13:00 ET (22:30 IST) every day. The tournament is taking place in online mode due to travel restrictions.

Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2 Players List
Sixteen of the world’s finest chess players will participate, with all of them being encouraged to give a portion of their winnings.
However, due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine, there will be no Russian participants for the first time in the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. The previous event, the Airthings Masters, had qualified three Russian Grandmasters. Ian Nepomniachtchi, Russia’s number one, was among them.
Richard Rapport, the winner of the recent FIDE Grand Prix, is a Tour newcomer and Hungary’s brightest star in the intriguing line-up. The tournament will include two female players: Women’s World Champion Ju Wenjun and rookie Lei Tingjie.
Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2 Prize Money Pool Distribution
The in-game prizes can go up to $90,000 while the remaining prize fund will be awarded based on the position of players. The net prize pool for the tournament is 150,000 dollars.
