Although Georgia Stanway’s penalty allowed England to clinch 1-0 victory, the stellar play of Dumornay amazed the fans worldwide. The 19-year-old caused havoc among England’s defensive line with her incredible vision and wicked pace, and she even gave Barcelona legend Lucy Bronze the runaround on numerous occasions.

Melchie Dumornay age, origin, family, career journey, & net worth
Dumornay was born in Mirebalais, and together with her three brothers and two cousins, she was reared by a single mother there. She joined AS Mirebalais, her first women’s football team, not long after she began playing football with older males in the commune’s streets. Dumornay was only ten years old when the club’s coach, Jean-Claude Josaphat, brought her to Camp Nous, the federation-owned training facility for all of the Haitian youth national teams, after being struck by her talent.
Dumornay started playing with Association Sportive Tigresses after leaving AS Mirebalis, and at the age of 15, she was named the best player in the Haitian Women’s Football Championship. Notably, she left the Haitian league in 2021 and joined Reims in Division 1 Féminine, the top division of French football.
After being voted Reims’ Player of the Month in December 2022, news broke in January 2023 that she had signed a permanent contract with rivals Lyon. Dumornay’s three-year contract will keep her on Sonia Bompastor’s team through 2026, and she now stands a decent chance of taking home her maiden Women’s Champions League championship the following season.
Due to her small stature in the beginning of her career, Dumornay was given the name Piti. She also goes by the name Corventina, which her older brother first gave her. In 2022 November, she agreed to a long-term sponsorship agreement with Adidas. Dumornay, who is regarded as one of women’s football’s most promising young players, earned Goal’s NXGN award for best teenage player in the world in 2022.
