Sri Lanka is presently in India for a three-match T20I series. On Tuesday, India won the opening T20I of the series by a narrow margin of two runs at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel’s unbeaten innings of 41 off 23 balls and 31 off 29 balls, respectively, aided Team India’s total of 162/5 in 20 overs. In response, Sri Lanka bowled out for 160, losing the game by a margin of two runs.

The debutant Shivam Mavi had a fairy-tale start to his international career, taking four wickets while conceding only 22 runs in his four overs. Umran Malik and Axar Patel, on the other hand, both took two wickets. Hardik Pandya and co are now preparing for the second game, which they are hoping to win in order to seize the three-match T20I series from the Lankans.
