Prediction
Alexander Bublik and Maxime Cressy are set to meet for the very first time in their ATP career tomorrow at the final of the Hall of Fame Open 2022.
To get to the second final of the season, Alexander Bublik required just 70 minutes to defeat Jason Kubler in the semifinal of the Hall of Fame Open on Saturday.
The 42nd-ranked Kazakh didn’t encounter any break points against Kubler, but he did manage to break the Australian twice in the second set and once in the first to win the match 6-3, 6-2.
The third seed won 86 per cent of his service points, notched 15 aces, and dropped only six points off his serve during the entire contest. In the first three rounds, he hit up to 49 aces.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Maxime Cressy’s already stellar season took a further leap forward as he defeated John Isner in three sets to advance to the third final of the year and snap the latter’s 10-match winning streak in the competition.
Isner had won the championships in both of his previous Newport outings, in 2017 and 2019, but this year he was limited to two victories. On his route to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory in an hour and 52 minutes, Cressy out-aced the World No. 22 and won 86 per cent of the points on the strength of his first serve.
A thrilling three-setter between the two big servers is to be expected. Bublik has a stellar record in the competition and might strike it fortunate again in the Newport finals.
