James McCaffrey was born on November 30, 1958 in Albany, New York to James and Anne McCaffrey. He was 6ft tall.

He grew up in an Irish-Catholic family. His father worked for the state, and his mother was employed by the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese.

James is survived by his wife Rochelle Bostrom, and daughter Tiernan McCaffrey.

James developed a passion for the arts and pursued his education at the University of New Haven, where he excelled in football, baseball, and Fine Arts, earning scholarships.
