Mauricio Lara vs Leigh Wood: match events & post-match reactions

Lara was knocked down in the second-round owing to his listlessness and sluggish play. In round three, the two got into a clash of heads, and Wood suffered a small cut. The Mexican struggled to land his normal snappy jabs and all-action aggressive style because he was frequently outpunched. Wood maintained his calm and continued to trouble Lara with barrage of punches. At the end, Wood was announced as the victor by unanimous decision with scores of 118-109, 118-109, 116-111.

Following this win, Nottingham favorite Leigh Wood has returned to winning ways and may anticipate facing Josh Warrington later this year. Earlier this year, Lara defeated Wood in seven rounds. Some questioned if it was too soon for Wood to exercise his rematch clause against Lara.
