Buffalo Bills fame American footballer, Matt Araiza, is making headlines after allegedly being accused of gang-raping a 17-year-old last year while at SDSU

According to a report by Los Angeles Times, Araiza,who’s known as “Punt God” for his abilities to punt the football 70 to 80 yards, is facing a lawsuit that was filed on Thursday, Aug 25 in California.

As per the report, the 22-year-old, with other two footballer players, Zavier Leonard and Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko from San Diego State are accused of having sex with a minor at an off-campus party.

The 17-year-old victim has claimed that throughout the incident, she was in and out of consciousness.

The player’s attorney, Kerry Armstrong had denied all the accusations and said that they were made because of his client’s newly acquired fame.

In a statement, Kerry said, “Itโ€™s a shakedown because heโ€™s now with the Buffalo Bills. There is no doubt in my mind that Matt Araiza ever raped that girl.”

According to the lawsuit, the woman seemed to have claimed that Araiza had given her a drink at the party that “not only contained alcohol, but other intoxicating substances.”

She further went on to claim that even after telling the player that she was a high school student and that he was aware of her obvious intoxication, he still demanded her to get engage in oral sex.

In the lawsuit, the woman also stated that, punter took her into a separate room along with Leonard, Ewaliko, and at least one other man, where they allegedly threw her on the bed and started raping her for approximately an hour and a half.

She further claimed that while it was happening, she saw a light that looked like a video from a cell phone. She allegedly claims that she had her piercing removed, including her nose, belly button and ears.

According to the report, the girl went to a city’s police station the following day, where she waited for 5 hours before an officer spoke to her and later she underwent a thorough rape examination after she was taken to a hospital.

According to the lawsuit, the police detectives of San Diego scheduled a number of calls with the men they thought were present when the rape happened, including Araiza, Leonard, and Ewaliko.

The cops had recorded and listened to the conversation that the woman had made to each of the men during what are called “pretext” calls.

As per the lawsuit, Araiza allegedly acknowledged having sex with the teen and advised her to get tested for STDs.

However, his tone changed and he replied, “This is Matt Araiza. I don’t recall anything that happened that night,” and hung up when the teen asked if they had “actual sex,” as directed by the detectives.

Meanwhile the lawyer of the player said that he doesn’t believe the woman was under the influence of alcohol or any drugs.

Speaking of Araiza, he recently won Buffalo’s starting punting position after he impressed everyone during the pre-season, including with an 82-yard rocket in the teams opening pre-season game.

He also earned unanimous All-American honors and won the Ray Guy Award.
