Boe was born in Frederikssund, Denmark on 11 July 1980. He began to prepare for his career in badminton in his childhood days. He appeared in the 1999 European Junior Championships where he appeared for Glasgow Boys’ doubles, Mixed doubles and, he won Gold in it and, with the Glasgow Mixed team he won the Bronze.

In 2010 Boe and Mogensen together won the titles as the Denmark Super Series, French Super Series, and the Super Series Final that took place in Taipei. Even in 2011 Mogensen and Boe together won the All England Super Series.

In the 2012 Summer Olympics, Mathias along with Mogensen grabbed the Silver medal in men’s doubles, and in the 2013 World Championship, they took the silver medal while defeated by Muhammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in the final.

Mathias is a gold medalist at the 2015 European Games, has won twice the European champions winning in 2012 and 2017, and a silver medalist at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
