In the first frame, Trump won the safety duel on the last red and clinched it to take the lead. After Trump’s run of 69 to tie the score, Hawkins broke back with a break of 110 and won frame three to take a 2-1 lead. During the following frames, Hawkins dominated to establish his own lead by score of 4-3, but Trump fought back with a huge 143-point total clearance to even the score. After winning the ninth frame, Hawkins seemed confident regarding his chances of qualification but Trump’s strong comeback thwarted plans of the former as Judd Trump clinched the last two frames for securing victory.
A safety fight on the colors decided the outcome of the first frame, and Bingham scored the game’s first point thanks to a fluke on the green. His performance over the following three frames, however, was anything but fortunate, as breaks of 78, 128 & 107 increased his lead to 4-0. When Murphy missed a long red in frame five, he was down 26–30, and Bingham took advantage of the situation to increase his lead. Bingham added a run of 65 points to secure the victory after picking up 24 points in fouls early in the sixth.
Following these results, it is confirmed that Judd Trump will play Stuart Bingham in one of the semi-final matches with Jack Lisowski vs Mark Williams in the other semi-final tie. It is known that the event champion will bag a significant prize of £250,000 in addition to the prestigious trophy.
