With a total clearance of 138, Williams took the first frame. For a 4-1 advantage, Trump won the following four frames, including a 106-run fourth frame. Williams won the following two frames and then cut Trump’s advantage to one with a century in the sixth frame. Later, Williams missed a double in frame eight, allowing Trump to score an 89 break and take a 5-3 advantage after the opening frame.
Williams won three straight sets in the evening session to take the lead at 7-6 after the first two frames of the session were split. After Williams’ attempt to escape a snooker on the green three times failed, he was left needing snookers, and frame 14 was eventually over after 57 minutes. Williams hit a 107 break in the 15th frame to take back the lead at 8-7, but Trump tied the score again at 8-8 after snookering Williams on the yellow.
After Williams committed a safety mistake, Trump won the 17th by clearing from the final red. In the 18th frame, Williams missed his scoring opportunity and allowed his rival to hit a century for 10-8 victory. With this result, Trump clinched the second Masters title of his career and hence becoming the 11th player to win this tournament multiple times.
