Masterchef India 2023: Assam’s Nayanjyoti Saikia wins the cooking reality show to take home Rs. 25 lakh prize money

The Masterchef India 2023 grand finale was judged by the three existing judges and a guest judge, chef Sanjeev Kapoor. Chef Kapoor asked the finalists to prepare a three-course meal in the final round.

On Friday, Nayanjyoti Saikia from Assam won Masterchef India 2023, after succeeding in several challenges at the competition’s grand finale. In the final round, he chose to symbolise his hometown of Tinukia by serving curry crab as starters, Assamese-style duck as the main course, and berry sorbet as dessert.

The 26-year-old home cook from Tinsukia took home Rs 25 lakh in prize money in addition to a golden chef’s coat. After winning the trophy, he said, “I still find it hard to believe I’m holding the trophy. This feels amazing.”

Nayanjyoti Saikia’s Journey To Masterchef India 2023

Chef Vikas Khanna travelled to Assam for the MasterChef India 2023 auditions and brought Nayanjyoti. The Michelin-starred chef asked Nayanjyoti to participate in the tournament after noticing his cooking abilities on Instagram. 

During the tryouts, chef Vikas said, “His vision, inventiveness, and ability to transform food into art truly astounded me.” “He inspired me with his social media posts, so I thought that he was the best match for MasterChef India.”

The Grand Welcome For The Winner, Nayanjyoti Saikia

On Saturday, Nayanjyoti Saikia travelled back to Tinsukia, where he was welcomed with open arms. A large procession was used to take the Masterchef champion to his Gobindopur village from Dibrugarh’s Mohanbari airport.

The locals welcomed him with great excitement and performed a traditional Bihu dance.

The First Runner-Up And Second Runner-Up From Masterchef India 2023

The first runner-up of the competition was an Assamese contestant named Santa Sarmah, and Mumbai’s Suvarna Bagul finished as the second runner-up on MasterChef India 2023. They each received prize money of Rs. 5 lakhs.
