After a dismal showing in the 2022โ23 season, Chelsea don’t appear to give a damn about who stays with the team. They really traded Mason Mount, an academy graduate, to Manchester United, a competitor in the Premier League. The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that the Red Devils paid ยฃ55 million for the Blues’ player, with the possibility of further payments totalling ยฃ60 million. It goes without saying that it is a highly intriguing move on the part of Erik ten Hag.
Even though he’s only 24 years old, Mount has already established himself during his time at Stamford Bridge. United appears to have faith in his abilities as they are said to have given him a significant pay increase compared to Chelsea.
Manchester United’s agreement with Mason Mount
Mason Mount, who would be paid three times as much at Manchester United as he was at Chelsea, is reportedly going to sign a five-year contract with an additional year’s option, according to Matt Law and Jason Burt of The Daily Telegraph.
What will Mason Mount’s weekly salary be?
According toย reports, Mount will get a weekly salary of ยฃ250,000, with incentives raising it to ยฃ300,000. For example, Mount would earn ยฃ12 million annually, ยฃ1 million monthly, ยฃ250,000 weekly, ยฃ35,714 per day, ยฃ1,488 per hour, ยฃ24.8 per minute, and ยฃ0.41 each second.
Mount is a versatile midfielder, capable of operating in an attacking role at number 10, or in from the right or left and has even occasionally operated as a false nine for Chelsea.
Mount currently wears the No.19 shirt at Chelsea, which is worn by defender Raphael Varane at United, though he actually likes the no.10 shirt with his official number set to be confirmed in the impending time.
Ten Hag was instrumental in the deal
The opening couple weeks of the transfer window have seen Manchester United actively pursue a move for Mount. Ten Hag has long acknowledged the talented England international, who has so far excelled at Chelsea. And Mount joined United after the Red Devils and a deal worth a total of ยฃ60 million was agreed upon.
The 24-year-old was reportedly associated with Ten Hag and the club’s recruitment team as the Dutchman was insistent that finding a younger midfielder should be a top priority, particularly because De Jong and Bellingham were both beyond their price range.
