For the unversed, Chelsea have signed 18-year-old Barcelona forward Marc Guiu by activating his €6 million release clause. The much-rumored deal was confirmed on Monday evening by both clubs.
Barcelona had attempted to offer Guiu a new contract, but the young forward was uncertain about his pathway to the first team, given Robert Lewandowski and Vitor Roque were ahead of him.

Guiu’s Contract Details with Chelsea
Guiu has now signed a 5-year deal with Chelsea, with reports indicating that he will earn a €1 million annual salary, significantly more than Barcelona’s offer. Reports also state that he will be on 50,000 pounds weekly at the club, triple of what he was paid at Barcelona after his 6 million euro release clause was met. He has a net worth of $1-5 million.
The professional footballer joins Chelsea after deciding to leave Barcelona, where he had one year left on his contract.

He has agreed to a five-year deal with Chelsea, which includes an option for an additional year, and will join his new teammates for pre-season.
Marc Guiu’s Performance at Barcelona
Guiu made his senior debut for Barcelona this season, scoring the winner against Athletic Club. He also scored against Royal Antwerp in the Champions League, one of his six further appearances.
Despite this, he spent most of the season with Barca Atletic in the third tier. There are rumors that Sevilla might be a potential destination for Guiu on loan next season.
Guiu joined Barça 11 years ago as a seven-year-old and, after progressing through the academy, made his first-team debut this past season.

For the unfamiliar, Marc Guiu Paz, born on January 4, 2006, is a Spanish professional footballer who now plays as a striker for Chelsea. Standing at 1.87 m (6 ft 2 in), Guiu has represented Spain at Under-17 and Under-19 levels, scoring 10 goals for the U17s.
Barcelona youth coach Iván Carrasco describes Guiu as a “classic ‘9’, a specialist in the area who exploits his physical power.” He has been compared to Samuel Eto’o for his high ball game, pace, strength, and work rate.
Career
Guiu scored just 23 seconds into his debut, securing a 1-0 win against Athletic Club last October. He also netted in the Champions League against Antwerp.
He scored six goals in 16 appearances for Barça Atlétic, although he was unable to score in their playoff final loss to Córdoba.
