The news of the fight comes after months of speculation and subtle teases, as “PacMan” chases glory one more time.

Manny Pacquiao Set for an Official Return

Pacquiao’s comeback has finally been confirmed. During an appearance at Fatal Fury in New York City, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman revealed that Pacquiao is set to return for a world title fight against Mario Barrios. The bout will be contested for the WBC welterweight championship. Sulaiman said Pacquiao wants to end his career as a WBC champion, just as he began it with a flyweight title in the same organization.

Although no formal announcement has been made yet, the news comes from one of the sport’s top officials. According to reports, nothing will be publicly confirmed until after Pacquiao completes his campaign for the Philippine Senate, with elections scheduled for May 12, 2025.

Manny Pacquiao’s Last Fight

Pacquiao last stepped into the ring professionally in 2021, when he lost to Yordenis Ugas. That defeat prompted him to announce his retirement from professional boxing, seemingly ending an illustrious career. Since then, he’s only participated in a 2022 exhibition match against kickboxer Rukiya Anpo, which ended in a draw. While the exhibition showcased his enduring spirit, it wasn’t the full-throttle return fans longed for—until now.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios: Expected Fight Date and Venue

If all goes according to plan, Pacquiao will face Mario Barrios in July 2025. Given the timing of the Philippine Senate election in May, the fight will likely take place later in the summer. Las Vegas is the front-runner to host the bout, particularly at the T-Mobile Arena, where Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) has held multiple events this year. With the lights of Vegas shining bright, Pacquiao’s comeback promises to be a major spectacle.

The official date and time of the fight hasn’t been revealed though and neither have the tickets gone on sale yet.

The question remains: Can the 46-year-old legend compete at the highest level again? Whether it’s a triumphant return or a final bow, boxing fans worldwide will be watching.
