United have recorded their worst start to a season this campaign, ever since Sir Alex Ferguson came in to replace Ron Atkinson 37 years ago.
Erik ten Hag’s reign as Manchester United manager
The Dutchman has so far had a difficult time at Old Trafford, with problems both on and off the field. As far as the squad is concerned, he has a long injury list going up as high as nine players last month. Along with injury troubles Ten Hag had to remove Jadon Sancho from the first team after he publicly called out the Dutchman on social media. Ten Hag had previously criticised the English winger for his lack of efforts during training.
Meanwhile, his 2022 summer signing Antony was off the squad for some time following abuse allegations by several different women. To make this things worse, the Red Devils suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Galatasaray in the Champions League. Despite leading twice following a brace from new summer signing Rasmus Hojlund, the Red Devils failed to capitalize on a win.
As such, the Red Devils currently have no points from their opening two Champions League games. The team have also suffered in the Premier League, losing four of their seven league games up until now.
