Malaysia Masters 2023 PV Sindhu vs Gregoria Mariska Tunjung semi-final schedule, date, time, prediction, head to head, live stream
With a 10-9 win-loss record, Sindhu has had a disappointing season this year.
Head to head: 7-1
Despite Tunjung being rated ninth and PV Sindhu being ranked thirteenth, the Indian holds a 7-1 record in head-to-head competition. The Indonesian’s lone title came last month at the Madrid Spain Masters, where she won easily.
The most recent match between the World No. 9 Tunjung and 13 Sindhu took place in the Madrid Spain Masters final in April. The Indonesian shuttler won the match and the championship by defeating the Indian player 21-8, 21-8 in less than 30 minutes.
Prediction
Sixth-seeded PV Sindhu hasn’t quite looked her best so far in the Malaysia Masters. She has had to stretch three games, two times in three matches. In the first round, Line Christophersen, who was 20 ranks below her in the rankings, was upset by Sindhu in just over an hour, winning 21-13, 17-21, and 21-18.
Then, in the Round of 16, the two-time Olympic medalist met Aya Ohori of Japan. She utterly destroyed the Japanese in just 40 minutes with scores of 21-16 and 21-11. However, Sindhu defeated Zhang Yi Man in three games in the quarterfinals, winning 21-16, 13-21, and 22-20.
The form appears to be with Tunjung, though, as she has been performing at the top of her game this time. It wouldn’t be unexpected given recent outcomes if Tunjung defeats Sindhu in the semifinals.
