As per media reports, the Mollywood director passed away at his home in Cherthala at the age of 67 today, on Jun 21. He was best known for directing the Jayaram-starrer “Sharja To Sharja.”

The tragic news of the renowned director’s demise was confirmed by Malayalam actor Anoop Menon, who took to Facebook and paid his condolences to Venugopan’s family.
As per reports, Venugopan’s last rights are set to take place at 8:30 PM today. As of now there isn’t any information available about his cause of death.

About Venugopan
For the unfamiliar, age 67 Venugopan worked as a assistant director before his debut as a full-time director.
He served as an assistant director to P. Padmarajan on his 1986 murder mystery titled “Kariyila Kattu Pole.”
According to the official website of Book My Show, Venugopan kept working as an assistant director for various Malayalam movies including “Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal” (1986), “Nombarathi Poovu” (1987), and “Season” (1989).
In 1998, he ultimately made his directorial debut with “Kusruthi Kuruppu.”
According to his official IMDb page, he is best known for working in successful Mollywood movies including “Sharja To Sharja,” “Swarnam,” and “Kusruthi Kuruppu.”
Apart from working as an assistant director for Malyalam films, he also served as the second unit director for classic movies such as “Njan Gandharvan,” “Innale,” and “Season,” among many more.
Venugopan is survived by his wife Latha, children Lakshmi and Vishnu Gopan, and son-in-law Raveesh.
