Pickleball is a high-speed paddle sport, similar to tennis, table tennis and badminton. During the past few years, pickleball has become America’s fastest-growing sport. Pickleball is played on a smaller-sized court with a perforated plastic ball, while the net used in Pickleball is two inches shorter than that of tennis.

Pickleball can be played indoors/outdoors, where two players (singles) or four players (doubles) use solid-faced paddles to hit the ball quite similar to the size of the tennis ball. Both sides hit the ball backwards and forwards until both sides committed the rule violation. For its next season, MLP broadens its League to 16 teams from 12.
The size of the Pickleball Court: is 20×44 feet, the court is much smaller compared to the standard tennis court.

The first Major League Pickleball event of 2022 started on Friday, June 3 in Austin, Texas with 48 of the best pickleball players in the world and the players were split up into 12 teams (4 players per team) to fight for a spot to compete for $100,000 in prize money.

Pickleball has become hugely popular in America in recent years. Because of its growing popularity, Pickleball was adopted as an official sport in Washington State in 2022. In 2021, Pickleball established the Pickleball Major League to provide the sport with a platform for global competition.
The first season of the MLP was a big hit and now NBA stars, including the likes of LeBron James, Draymond Green and Kevin Love have developed an interest in making an investment in the league. As MLP grows, so does the interest of big names wishing to be part of the rapidly growing sport.

The four-time champ, LeBron James is the newest owner in the League. On Wednesday, MLP reported that a group of owners, LRMR Ventures led by LeBron James and business partner Maverick Carter had bought a new team. In James’ latest business venture, he will be joined by four times MVP and a former teammate at Cleveland, Kevin Love and his good friend and long-time rival, Draymond Green. Talking about James, he already holds a stake in Fenway Sports, Boston Red Sox and English Premier League Giants Liverpool FC.
