The Grand Prairie, Dallas, Texas served as the venue for the MLC 2023 final on Sunday (July 30) night.
MI New York skipper Nicholas Pooran shines in MLC 2023 final
Orcas started off the match batting slowly before shifting gears with an 87 run knock from De Kock. This included 4 sixes and 9 fours. However, MI New York’s Rashid Khan hit back with 3 for 9 in 4 oversm while Trent Boult also claimed 3 wickets. Quinton 87 helped the Seattle Orcas set a target of 183. Although the score was indeed impressive, MI New York skipper came on to completely smash it.
Pooran walked in at 0 for 1 in the first over, and registered a 60-run stand with Shayan Jahangir (10). He followed this with another 75-run partnership with teammate Dewald Brevis (20). In total, Pooran scored an unbeaten 55-ball 137 to help his MI New York smash past the target run with 24 balls to spare. Pooran’s entire knock consisted of 13 sixes and 9 fours. His impressive performances helped the New York-based franchise to win the first edition of MLC. The owner of MI New York, are the same owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) five-time winners Mumbai Indians.
