Maharashtra will finally allow economic activity and regular life to resume in its 5-level unlock based on the number of COVID positive cases in each city and district

Ever since the COVID pandemic has riddled India much like the remainder of the global stage, Maharashtra has failed to stave off the disease.

Despite India seeing the effect of Coronavirus wane off last year till March of 2021, Maharashtra kept recording a steady number of cases. The state burst come April with almost 70,000 positive cases being recorded per day as the disease shrouded Maharashtra in its dreary fog.

Maharashtra Lockdown Starts To Open Up

May brought some much needed respite as cases regressed and the blockage in hospitals reduced. The reduced number of COVID positive cases have finally lead to the sitting three party coalition government decide to reduce norms ingrained in place during the ongoing lockdown in the state.

Cities and districts have been segregated into five levels depending on the number of cases and requirement of oxygen beds. The 5 level unlock plan sees districts in Level 1 have minimum restrictions, while lockdown-like curbs will continue in districts falling in the Level 5 zone.

Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Aurangabad, Solapur and Nagpur will be treated as administrative units. The new set of guidelines are set to come into play on June 7,Monday.

Maharashtra 5 Level Unlock Plan Guidelines

Level 1 – Districts with less than a 5% positivity rate and less than 25% occupied oxygen beds

Will see no almost no curbs with malls, theatres, all shops, gyms, sports complexes, salons, train services marriage, funerals and gatherings all allowed.

Level 2 – Districts with more than 5% positivity rate and 25-40% occupied oxygen beds

All shops can open, while malls, theatres, restaurants, gyms and salons can function with 50% capacity. Parks to be opened up as well with outdoor games allowed throughout the day while indoor games can take place from 5 am to 9 pm.

Level 3 – Districts with 5-10%  positivity rate and more than 40% occupied oxygen beds

Shops selling essential items can open till 4 pm, non-essential items till 4 pm on weekdays. Malls and theatres to remain closed, restaurants opened with 50% capacity while parks can remain open from 5 am to 9 pm.

Level 4 – Districts with positivity rate between 10-20% and more than 60% occupied oxygen beds

Only essential shops can open till 4 pm with malls, theatres still shut while restaurants have to only continue takeaways and deliveries.

Outdoor sports have been given the nod from5 am to 9 pm on weekdays. Gyms and salons can allow 50% capacity of people in them only if all the people have been vaccinated.

Level 5 – Districts with positivity rate of more than 20% and more than 75% occupied oxygen beds

Same as level 4, only essential shops to open till 4 pm. Gyms and salons have been asked to stay completely shut along with park.
