For those who are unversed, let us tell you, it’s an traditional event where we saw a bull is released into a crowd of people who are attempting to grab bull’s large hump and trying to hand on to it while the bull is attempting to escape.
The one who holds the hump for as long as possible and attempt to bring the bull to a stop is declared as the winner. However, in certain cases, participants even had to ride long enough to remove flags on the bull’s horns.
The event is a long-lasting tradition of Tamilnadu and is believed to be celebrating since 400-100 BC. It’s also known as manju virattu, Sallikkattu, and eru thazhuvuthal.

Those who are thinking of participanting in the event matches, they are advised to the book the tickets online as the governmental body has announced the ticket will be available online.
Let us remind you, as per the guidelines released by district authorities of Madurai, a person who is participating in the matches, they have to book a ticket where only 2 people will be allowed with the bull.
The person need to register themselves up after entering their names, uploading a proof of corona vaccination, age proof and photograph on the official website of Madurai which is madurai.nic.in.

The matches will be held on Tuesday, January 17 2023. Let us remind you, the tickets for the bull’s and bull-fighters who wants to try their hands on the fighting can book the tickets from today onwards.
These tickets will be available till 05:00 P.M. local time on Thursday, January 12.
