In other women’s doubles action, Commonwealth Games medallist N. Sikki Reddy and her partner Ruthvika Shivani Gadde advanced to the main draw of the BWF Super 300 event after a commanding performance in the qualifiers. The Indian duo defeated Cheung Yan Yu and Wing Chi Chu 21-10, 21-15 in just 29 minutes.
On the men’s side, Alap Mishra was the only Indian player to progress past the qualifying rounds in singles. He battled through a tough opener, defeating Thailand’s Korakrit Laotrakul 22-20, 21-3, before overcoming compatriot Aryamann Tandon in a hard-fought 21-10, 24-22 victory. Meanwhile, Tharun Mannepalli and Darshan Pujari fell short in their respective matches.

Notably, top Indian badminton players, including PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympics, are not competing at the Macau Open. However, former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth is set to take the court on Wednesday. The Macau Open 2024 badminton tournament will conclude on Sunday.
