Twitch is a live video streaming platform, which was founded about a decade ago. The platform has gained much popularity with already around 140 million monthly active users.
Recently retired high-profile footballers like Gerard Pique and Sergio Aguero are also a part of it.
Luis Enrique Joins Twitch
The La Roja coach recently announced his plans to join Twitch through a video posted on Twitter and Instagram. He stated in the video:
I’m recording this video to announce that I’ve become a streamer. Well, I’m not a streamer yet, this is a video. I haven’t started yet. But my idea is to stream during the time we’re in Qatar. We arrive in the early hours of [Friday] Nov. 18, so I think I’ll be able to start streaming that day.
Luis Enrique And The Spanish Media
It is well known that Luis Enrique has had a rather difficult and hostile relationship with the Spanish media. Madrid-based media outlets in particular seem to have something against him ever since his controversial switch from Real Madrid to Barcelona as a player back in 1996.
Luis Enrique will definitely still take an active part in official news conferences in Qatar. However, his live streaming on twitch will allow him to speak directly to the La Roja supporters and other fans.
A Direct Relationship With Fans
Luis Enrique shared that the whole idea behind the Twitch Channel is to establish a direct relationship with the fans.
He stated:
To establish a more direct relationship with no filters, more spontaneous, more natural. I think it could be interesting for everyone.
While speaking in the video he posted on Twitter, he admitted that he still has plenty of work to do. He shared that he can only improve, and shared the lack of proper lighting and equipment like his headphones. He concluded by saying that his face is what it is!
New Twitch Channel And Instagram Account
Following his previous tweet, Luis Enrique shared the link to his new Twitch channel on twitter. The 52-year-old has already amassed 343,000 followers currently and his first stream has gained around 1.1 million views so far. Luis Enrique also recently opened an Instagram account, where he has begun posting photos since last week.
Luis Enrique’s squad members, many of whom are active on social media themselves, will also most likely agree with his newfound passion. 22-year-old Spanish defender Hugo Guillamon who currently plays for Spain and Valencia while also studying biomedical engineering at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia made a statement during a news conference.
Spain Gears Up For World Cup
Spain recently faced Jordan in a pre-World Cup friendly on Thursday winning 3-1. It is their final match as they head on to Qatar to begin their group stage preparations with Costa Rica, Germany, and Japan.
Fans will be eager to see whether or not Spain will progress to the latter stages of the tournament like they did at Euro 2020 where they reached the semifinals, or crash out at the group stages like the 2014 World Cup. Whatever the outcome, Luis Enrique’s Twitch stream will definitely be worth watching.
