Ludo Supreme App: Bombay High Court To Decide If Ludo Is Gambling Or A Game Or Skill

The Bombay High Court has gone onto issue a notice against the Ludo Supreme App in wake of a state plea against the game

At times the most flagrant of issues end up cropping inside the walls of law in the country. Its not only a phenomena in India though with a string of bemusing cases, pleas and petitions being filed in courts across the global stage.

Keshav Files Plea Against Ludo Supreme App

Paying testament to this narrative is MNS office-bearer Keshav Ramesh Muley who has gone onto file a plea against ludo in the Bombay High Court. Muley’s plea is against the Ludo Supreme App with him going onto claim that the game was purely decided on algorithm with a predicted mechanism in place to determine which number would come up on the dice.

Citing this, Keshav had gone onto demand in his plea that Ludo de declared a “game of chance and not a game of skill”. Despite being spurned by the local police back in November of 2020 whom he had approached to file a FIR against the game, Keshav had refused to be deterred.

Muley had gone onto approach the Metropolitan Court with a plea against Cashgrail Private Ltd, under the Gambling Act and under relevant sections of the IPC. However, the local court had too quashed his request ruling that ludo is a “game of skill and not a game of chance”.

Bombay High Court Issues Notice To Maharashtra Government In Ludo Supreme Case

Adamant to have his way though, Muley has now gone onto approach the Bombay High Court with the same demands. And in an unprecedented judgement, the Bombay High Court has decided to issue a notice to the Maharashtra government, asking them for their stance on the matter.

In case Muley does finally end up having his way, then provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887 would apply to term Ludo as a gambling game. Muley claims that Ludo Supreme coerces people into partaking in money based matches, something which has been asserted as being true.

“In the content of the said videos the uploader encouraged people at large to play the game of ludo the Ludo Supreme App and further claimed that it is and easy way of earning money with an assurance that one would only win money and not lose any,” his petition reads.
