Lieutenant General Manoj Pande was born on 6 May 1962 and presently his age is 65 years old as of 2022. Manoj Pande is serving as a Lt. General in the Indian Army. He is presently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff since 1 February, the year 2022.
Earlier, Manoj served as the General Officer, the Commanding-in-Chief, an Eastern Command, having taken over on the 1st of June in 2021. He earlier commanded the Andaman and Nicobar Command as the Commander-in-Chief (CINCAN). On the 18th of April in 2022, Manoj was named the next Chief in the Army Staff, COAS, to assume office from 30th April.
Lieutenant Manoj Pande has two brothers one is Ketan Pande who is a journalist by profession and his other brother is Sanket. Sanket was also a colonel in the army. His father is Dr. CG Pande, Manoj Pande was born in Nagpur.
His father, Dr. C G Pande, was the former Head of the Department of Psychology at Nagpur University with him only recently passing away. Prema Pande was his mother’s and his ancestors hail from the city of Nagpur which is his hometown.
His wife is Archana Salpekar, who was his childhood sweetheart. She graduated from the Government Dental College and Hospital in Nagpur with a Gold medal. He is a Hindu by religion.

After finishing his secondary education, he was accepted into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and he received his bachelor’s degree from Staff College, Camberley (United Kingdom), and also attended the Higher Command (HC) and National Defence College (NDC) Courses in the United States.
Manoj Pande was commissioned into the Bombay Sappers which is one of the regiments in the Corps of Engineers in December of the year 1982. Pande attended the Staff College, Camberley based in the United Kingdom. After he finished the course, Later, Manoj returned to India and was appointed as the brigade major of a mountain brigade in Northeast India.
Right after finishing his schooling, Manoj Pandey decided to join NDA. After he got his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he worked as the Chief Engineer at the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea.
After promotion to the rank of the Major General, Manoj Pande took command of the 8 Mountain Divisions which were involved in high-altitude operations based in western Ladakh. Manoj was appointed as the next Vice Chief of the Army Staff succeeding Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty on his superannuation on the 31st of January recently in the year 2022.
Manoj Pande is a receiver of the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. He also achieved the Vishisht Seva Medal. Apart from all these, Manoj has been awarded the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Commendation Card and two GOC-in-C commendation cards.
