Lovely Professional University (LPU) Courts Controversy After Erasing Kashmir And Entire North East India From Map
Lovely Professional University (LPU) has deleted Kashmir and North East India off the map of India in a video promoting its Study India Program. On the 7th of June 2022, LPU’s Twitter account posted the footage for the first time. The University’s Chancellor is Ashok Kumar Mittal, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party.
The video depicts a Ghanian national, Omar Taufic Annertey Abbey, complimenting the many courses provided at the LPU, and while presenting them, the film shows a skewed map of India, with two territories – Kashmir and North East India – not portrayed as being part of India.

And the most amazing thing is that the chancellor of the university is AAPiya. pic.twitter.com/qHCu4BzGnR

People posted the contact information for the Lovely Professional University’s responsible officials when the video went popular on social media. LPU is a private university in Punjab’s Phagwara. It was founded in 2005 and began operations in 2006.
This isn’t the first time a university has displayed an erroneous map of India. On June 15, netizens pointed out that the Chandigarh University Alumni section displays an incorrect map of India, depicting Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Pakistan. Several people on the internet responded to the post and requested that it be taken down. The Alumni section of the University’s official website was removed after netizens pointed out the incorrect map. Chandigarh University, like LPU, is a private university.
Dr. Ashok Mittal, Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament on May 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in New Delhi. At the Rajya Sabha, the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, administered the oath of office upon him after he got a ticket from AAP.
