Manika Batra, the talented Indian table tennis player is expecting to win a medal in the Tokyo Olympics. The player sat down to talk about her preparations

Manika Batra idolizes star player Sharath Kamal and is already preparing for the next Olympics.

During a recent interview with ANI, she said, “I keep myself ready and steady, I am working harder for Paris. I would love to see myself win a medal for India in Tokyo and if not then in Paris.”

In the same interview, she further revealed, “Like Sharath Bhaiya is playing his fourth Olympics, I also would want to pursue my third Olympics in Paris so about which I have been working since last year already because you know Olympics need real long preparation.

Manika Batra Talks About Her Preparations For The Tokyo Olympics

Batra is a calm and composed player, who likes to be mentally fit and in the right mind. She believes playing Olympics for India is the biggest opportunity and is looking forward to participating in the marquee event.

She further revealed in the interview, “It’s a good opportunity and I am competing in two events, playing for India is the biggest and most important player for me. I love my country and such a platform is a perfect place to fight it out.”

Manika Batra Career And Achievements 

In 2011, she had won a silver medal in the Under-21 category of the Chile Open. She also participated in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which were held in Glasgow. She remained the quarterfinalist in the tournament. She had won three medals in the 2015 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships. She had also won a silver medal in the women’s team event, along with Ankita and Mouma Das.

The Tokyo Olympics will start on July 23 and will end on August 8. The marquee event was expected to be held in the last year but got postponed due to the pandemic.

Batra is going to join the national camp in Sonepat before the Quadrennial event and the young player will work very hard to remain in the top form.

She had gone onto win three gold medals in the 2016 South Asian games, in which she had won the women’s double event with Pooja Sahasrubuddhe,  mixed double event with Anthony Amalraj and women’s team event with Mouma Das.
