According to Hadius’ grandfather, being kind is futile and a waste of time. He was informed by his grandfather about Hadius’ father and how he and Hadius’ mother scaled the corporate ladder to the top and now possessed a large number of possessions.
But despite the fact that doing so would harm his family, Hadius’ father abandoned everything to be with useless women.
Grandfather claimed that the family would have dispersed years ago if Hadius’s mother hadn’t tried so hard to keep them all together.
The grandfather advised Hadius to never show kindness to someone merely out of goodwill and to put his feelings aside whenever he wanted something. Additionally, he had to hurt other people’s feelings if he wanted to be a true Myer.
Because doing so would prevent him from being betrayed and from weakening and losing, which were the only other options, as Hadius and his grandfather were never very close, he didn’t understand why he recalled it. However, he hoped that Hadius would avoid making the same mistakes as his father.
