The Premier League and Manchester City will engage in a contentious legal dispute.
The Premier League giants Manchester City might face very harsh penalties, possibly even relegation to lower divisions of English football, if they are proven guilty on multiple charges. The club has been turned over to an unbiased commission due to alleged rule infractions between 2009 and 2018.
The club has also been charged with refusing to cooperate since the investigation’s beginning in December 2018. In the event that City is found guilty, the commission may impose a severe punishment. Currently, the prospect of a fine, a point penalty, or even expulsion from the Premier League exists.

City is ready to fight back!
The Club intend to use Lord Pannick KC of Blackstone Chambers as their primary defence attorney. He will go off against Adam Lewis KC, a coworker at Blackstone Chambers. One of the top lawyers in the UK, Pannick was instrumental in City’s legal team’s victory against UEFA in 2020, which also involved allegations of financial wrongdoings.
Additionally, the famous attorney most recently provided advice to former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson during the now-famous Partygate investigation. In what will be one of the largest sports law battles in history, the Citizens hierarchy will be hoping that Pannick can lead them to victory once more.
How much will Man City pay Pannick?
According to an article by The Lawyer, Pannick often bills clients for £5,000 per hour, though he has been known to demand a staggering £10,000 for every 60 minutes of labour. The 66-year-old barrister would make about £80,000 per day, or £400,000 per week, if he were to get the larger sum.
That is the same salary as Kevin De Bruyne, who leads City and the Premier League in earnings. Pannick would still be making more money each week than all but seven players on Pep Guardiola’s playing roster, even if he only made £5,000 per hour.
His net worth stands at $5 million.
When will the court case be heard?
Regarding the matter, no exact timetable has yet been given. In fact, City’s top brass believes that before a clear resolution comes about, manager Guardiola will have be long gone.
It is without a doubt the largest court case in Premier League history, and when it is resolved, the English football scene may look very, very different. Moreover, the defending Premier League champions appear to believe they can cleanse their names.
