What exactly happened so far?
The previous chapter begins with Jake Kim protecting Jinrang from Kitae’s axe. Kitae confesses his desire to emulate Gapryong Kim as a conqueror rather than a politician, wanting to rule South Korea and Japan.
He invites Jake to join him, but Jake declines, preferring Gapryong’s moral, romantic side above his brutal shadow. Enraged, Kitae attempts to kill Jake, echoing his attacks on his other half-brothers.
Police arrive and order Kitae to down his firearm. Unlike his previous confrontation with Jichang Kwak, where tasers caused him to escape, Kitae now ignores them.
Initially, Goo Kim appears to have tipped off the authorities, but James Lee, tired of covering for Kitae, has acknowledged that he phoned the police. However, the Busan mayor unexpectedly orders Kitae’s release, implying powerful allies. Kitae then travels to Seoul, likely to confront James Lee.
A rescue squad saves Jinrang, who lives despite losing his arm but remains unconscious. The other two victims’ conditions remain unknown.
Daniel Park thanks Jake, who reveals that he wanted Jinrang, Gapryong’s apprentice, to become stronger. Jake reinforces Big Deal’s loyalty to Daniel. Meanwhile, press sources downplay the violence, claiming just a fish market was destroyed, implying James Lee’s influence is obscuring the truth.
