Although Logan Paul removed the video, it sparked off a debate online about what YouTubers can post on the site.
Logan Paul posts controversial video of the Aokigahara forest
Logan Paul posted a now deleted controversial video of the Aokigahara forest or the infamous “suicide forest”. After he posted it, several of his friend also posted similar footage. The most intriguing and shocking part about this video was a man in a forest who had died by suicide. While the footage showed his face with a blur, it showed his body through a number of close-up shots. Logan Paul and his group apparently went into the forest to film their discoveries inside the “haunted” site. While they weren’t initially expecting to find anything intriguing, they run into a dead body.
Upon encountering the dead body, the group was visibly shocked. However, Logan Paul and his fiends started make jokes repeatedly. Paul even mocked at someone who revealed that he “doesn’t feel good”. After posting the viral and controversial video, Logan Paul himself has now taken it down. He also posted a long apology on social media, explaining that he made a “mistake” by posting the video. He shared that his only reason for posting the video was because he thought he could make a positive ripple on the Internet. However, he regretted that it caused “a monsoon of negativity”.
Logan Paul’s joking reaction to the dead body in the forest made the video very controversial leading to various reactions. Many people online have heavily criticized against Paul and the video, after which it was taken down. However, millions of people have already seen it and images and clips of the videos from the YouTube post have already made its way across the internet.
Aokigahara the “suicide forest”
Aokigahara is the name of a forest in Japan often dubbed as the “suicide forest”. The site has long been associated with Japanese spirits and legends connecting it with death. People believe that the forest was once the site of the ubasute custom where older people were abandoned and left to die alone. Due to this, people believe that the area continues to be haunted by the ghosts of such victims.
Moreover, the fact that several people have committed suicides in this forest, adds more to its reputation. Another aspect of the forest’s creepy reputation is its own strange characteristics. The forest has a dense plantation with a strange lava floor. All this makes the area incredibly quiet and very easy to get lost. Much of the forest floor is made up of volcanic rock, which makes it difficult to dig into.
According to people who have visited the Aokigahara forest in the past, all of these strange characteristics, coupled with the stories surrounding gives the whole place an eerie and haunted feel. Over the years, even before Logan Paul posted his video, numerous people have shot documentaries and explored the forest.
